Don’t fall to pieces! Join the Barnsley Museums global jigsaw challenge!

Hundreds of people around the world are pondering over a different kind of puzzle. A daily, digital dose of jigsaw fun inspired by an outstanding art collection from a gallery in South Yorkshire.

People from near and far look forward to the daily challenge brought to them by the Cooper Gallery, an exciting art space in Barnsley. But it’s not just for fun…. a healthy competition has begun online with people sharing their quickest times. Museums as far away as Brazil have been encouraging their followers to get involved. 
 
Each jigsaw is made using a painting or drawing from the gallery’s collection, which has been brought together in Barnsley over the last hundred years, including works by many famous names. As well as testing people’s brain power the game also offers an insight into wonderful works of art.

Over the forthcoming weeks, Barnsley Museums’ four other sites will be joining in with the games to. Each week, there will be chances to solve jigsaws inspired by the amazing buildings of Elsecar, beautiful treasures of Cannon Hall and photographs of famous Barnsley characters and events shared by Experience Barnsley.

Plans are in place to host a unique, online competition in May, when eager participants will compete to solve a series of jigsaws in the fastest time.

Barnsley Museums have an exciting line up of innovative and creative digital activities coming soon – sure to capture people’s imagination and keep everyone entertained.
