Light and Soul - Audio Described Guide
The Cooper Gallery has been working with VocalEyes to create an audio described guide of tour Light and Soul exhibition. It includes an introduction to the exhibition, orientation within the space and audio descriptions of the 21 artworks that are part of the Cooper Gallery's permanent collection.
The guide will be available from Monday 7th August until the end of the exhibition.
You can also listen to the guide on our Soundcloud page
The guide lasts approximately one hour. The tour starts in the gift shop, where audio devices can be collected for the duration of your visit. As you enter through the main Gallery entrance, the shop is on your left and the cafe is on your right. The shop desk is approximately 10 paces in from the shop entrance. A member of staff will be able to assist you.
Please provide your own headphones (either Bluetooth or wired headphones will work). Our devices will connect directly to your Bluetooth headphones rather than to your device. Alternatively you can listen to the guide on your own device, either in the exhibition or at home!
You can also listen to 21 individual descriptions of artwork from The Cooper Gallery permanent collections
Portable and permanent seating is available in the Cooper Gallery.
The area described by the guide has level and step free access throughout. There is an extension to the exhibition upstairs in the Sadler Room which contains our recreation of the 'Forest of Fontainebleau' for families to enjoy, and artworks created by Barnsley school children inspired by the exhibition. There is lift access to the Sadler Room. Please note that the Sadler Room is sometimes closed for private events.
