The Futurist Cinema - The Man Who Fell to Earth

The Futurist Cinema presents The Man Who Fell to Earth as part of the Astronomy Photographer of the Year 2018, exhibition launch week.

To celebrate the tenth anniversary of the competition, The Royal Observatory Greenwich has decided to tour this exclusive exhibition and the Cooper Gallery is proud to be the first to host the full display of images outside of London.

To mark the opening of the exhibition and also commemorate the recent loss of one of Britain’s finest film directors Nicholas Roeg, we will be showing the cult classic The Man Who Fell To Earth starring David Bowie. This will be followed by a curators tour of the stunning photographs.

Don’t miss this exclusive event taking place at the Cooper Gallery and supported by Wentworth and Elsecar Great Place.

Thomas Jerome Newton (David Bowie) is an alien who has come to Earth in search of water to save his home planet. Aided by lawyer Oliver Farnsworth (Buck Henry), Thomas uses his knowledge of advanced technology to create profitable inventions. While developing a method to transport water, Thomas meets Mary-Lou (Candy Clark), a quiet hotel clerk, and begins to fall in love with her. Just as he is ready to leave Earth, Thomas is intercepted by the U.S. government, and his entire plan is threatened.

Doors open at 7pm, film starts at 7.30pm
