How to use these resources
‘Portraits and self-identity’ is a school workshop for KS1 and KS2 usually delivered at the Cooper Gallery. Pupils improve their drawing techniques and learn how to draw a portrait inspired by two paintings in the Cooper Gallery collection – Watter Joe and Peggy Airey, both by Abel Hold.
We have adapted this workshop so that it can be done in school or at home, still using the paintings as inspiration. This pack includes a step-by-step guide and some demonstration videos to help you complete the activities – have fun!
If you want to develop your drawing and portrait techniques further, have a look at our other resources based around the Cooper Gallery here. They also include instructions on how to make your own sketchbook to keep all your drawings together.
