Barnsley’s Greatest Treasure revealed

Barnsley’s Greatest Treasure was revealed at the Friends of Barnsley’s archives and social evening talk which took place last night (Monday 9 March.) The winning entry is The Annals of Barnsley, written by John Hugh Burland. They are a chronological history of Barnsley from 1744 to 1864, a time when so much was changing locally.

Barnsley Museums are backing the ‘Shop local’ campaign that is taking place nationwide on Saturday, 6 December. In support, stores are being asked to display window stickers and poster, which will help people to identify the businesses involved.
